Life isn’t always beautiful, but it’s a beautiful ride. And that perfectly describes the journey we’re on at The Grange Hall as we continue transforming our barn into one of Central Ohio’s most memorable wedding and event venues.
Easter week brought steady progress, even with our builders split across multiple projects. While the crew wasn’t on-site every day, we still managed to wrap up several important upgrades that bring us closer to delivering a comfortable, modern, and guest-friendly venue for weddings and events near Richwood, Ohio.
Structural Improvements Inside the Barn
New Doors for Prep & Storage Areas
We installed both doors under the loft for our prep/storage space and the shop/groom room. These areas are essential for wedding mornings, giving couples and vendors organized, private spaces to prepare without disrupting the flow of the event.
Skirting & Truss Carrier Supports
Our team also completed the skirting and truss carrier supports, which prepares the barn for the upcoming patio trusses. Once the crew returns, this will allow us to expand outdoor functionality and improve guest movement between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Insulation for Comfort & Sound Control
One of the biggest upgrades this week was finishing the interior insulation of the barn.
After adding large rolls of unfaced insulation over the spray foam, our walls now reach an impressive R-33 insulation value.
This upgrade delivers two major benefits:

Energy efficiency – The barn stays cooler in summer and warmer in cooler seasons, making events more comfortable year-round.

Sound absorption – With perforated metal planned for the top half of the walls, the insulation helps prevent echo and keeps music, vows, and speeches clear and balanced throughout the space.
For weddings and receptions, that means better acoustics, better comfort, and a more enjoyable guest experience.
Plumbing Progress for the New Addition
Drain Lines & Rough Install
The most exciting milestone of the week came from Weeks Plumbing, who dug and set our drain lines for the new addition. On Friday, they began adjusting everything to the correct height so the team can move forward with concrete work in the new rooms.
While plumbing might not be the most glamorous part of a build, it’s one of the most important. These upgrades ensure reliable, comfortable restrooms for guests, something everyone appreciates on a wedding day 😅.
They’re scheduled to finish the rough install shortly, putting us on track for concrete pouring in the next phase.
Lighting Up the Shop & Groom Area
Safer, Brighter Workspaces
On Saturday, Cody wrapped up the lighting installation in the Shop/Groom area. The new lighting makes it much easier to work under the loft, especially after dark.
For wedding parties, this means better visibility, safer movement, and a more relaxed environment during setup and preparation.

Our builders are expected back on-site soon, and we’re excited to see even more progress in the coming week. Each improvement brings us closer to offering couples a venue that blends rustic charm, modern comfort, and functional design, perfect for weddings in Richwood, Marysville, and across Central Ohio.
