May has officially arrived, and with it comes exciting progress at The Grange Hall Ohio. Last week, the farm felt more like a train station than a quiet countryside venue, contractors, equipment, and wedding tours moving in and out nonstop. Every upgrade brings us closer to delivering an even better experience for couples planning their outdoor and barn weddings in Central Ohio.
From concrete pours to interior barn improvements, our team has been working hard to transform the property into a seamless, beautiful space for ceremonies, receptions, and unforgettable moments.
Patio & Outdoor Space Upgrades
We kicked off the week with Bahan’s returning to prepare the back patio and pond patio for concrete work. These areas are key gathering spaces for cocktail hours, guest seating, and scenic photo moments.
New Mum Pad Installation
While the equipment was on site, we also decided to build a brand-new mum pad. We hauled in over 500 tons of stone to replace last year’s plastic ground cover. Out here, the wind can be strong, and the new stone base provides better durability and long-term stability for seasonal landscaping and décor.
This upgrade helps ensure that our outdoor wedding spaces stay polished, clean, and reliable throughout the season.
Barn Concrete & Interior Improvements
On Thursday and Friday, Craig Moran Construction completed the first two major concrete pours inside the barn.
Stamped Concrete Details

The bathrooms were poured and stamped in a slate-colored Italian slate finish.

The bride room received a warm brown stamped concrete design using wood-plank textures for a natural, elegant look.

The covered patio was brushed to match our existing concrete for visual consistency across the venue.
These finishes add both beauty and functionality, making the barn comfortable and visually appealing for wedding parties and guests alike. We’re already excited for the final patio pour facing the pond coming soon.
Amish Craftsmanship Inside the Barn
Our interior barn work is being handled by a skilled Amish crew known for attention to detail and craftsmanship. While progress slowed briefly due to a wedding within their own team, great things still moved forward.
Structural & Loft Progress

Perforated metal was installed on the top third of the barn walls.

The loft stairs were framed in.

The loft wall was finished with board-and-batten metal panels.
This phase adds character, airflow, and architectural depth to the barn while preparing the space for lighting, décor, and guest movement during events.
Electrical & Groom Suite Setup
Cody took time off from his day job and worked through the weekend to keep momentum going.
Groom Room & Storage Power

Next up: rough-in electrical for the new bride room and bathrooms.

Ceremony Runway Preparation
Sunday finally gave us dry weather, which meant it was time to bring out the tractor and tiller.
Grass Runway Development
We began working down the ceremony runway, preparing it to be planted with grass soon. This runway will guide guests and couples into the ceremony space while blending naturally into the surrounding landscape for photos and guest flow.
It’s another step toward creating a scenic, comfortable, and functional outdoor ceremony experience in Richwood, Ohio.
